F/A-42 ''Heron'' {5TH GEN CHALLENGE}

Auto Credit Based on WinsWings's WinsWings-5thGen

THE SECOND ITERATION OF PURE, UNFILTERED, WISTERIAN PATRIOTISM

NATO gave it the reporting name of "Feedback", but we all know "Heron" is better

A compilation of everything i have learned about FT, XML editing, and weapons, smashed together into the perfect fighter and attacker for any mission, and testbed for anything i ever want to make in the future.

changed a few things about the frame + its functionality. a bit was borrowed from the F-45 Ridren II. i tried to make it as original as i could, while keeping the maneuverable frame.

i know this wont win the challenge, but the sheer effectiveness of this bird makes it worth it. my magnum opus, you could say.

CHANGES: (the previous version is no longer on the site, so this is for anyone who downloaded it before i removed it.)
- made the missile bay a bit longer.
- added hybrid bomb pods with a total of 12 bombs (hybrid bombs are usable as torpedos or regular bombs).
- added nav lights and the ability to toggle the formation lights.
- added smaller YM-22s in the missile bay (same functionality as before)
- changed YM-22 count from 6 to 11
- moved wingtip hardpoints to the bottom of the intakes
- added another parachute
- added chaffs
- removed bullet collision with own aircraft (used to cause an issue when shooting while pitching down, would destroy part of the plane).
- moved rear landing gear a bit back
- removed 2 under-wing hardpoints
- moved engine position forward a bit

FEATURES AND UPGRADES:
- 12 available external hardpoints, for carrying out specific missions.
- max speed: ~Mach 1.8 (at around 20,000 feet)
- nav lights
- increased functionality
- FT code thrust vectoring (auto-stabilizes at high AOAs, same as the Su-41X)
- wing pods with customizable armaments
- 11 internal missiles
- my signature YM-22s and Hybrid Bombs, plus ADMM arrays.
- supermaneuverability
- powerful toggleable afterburner
- drag chutes

NOTABLE ISSUES:
- has a somewhat high performance cost for a mobile friendly craft
- inability to be used with autopilot (fix: actuate trim differently at different speeds)
- inability to be flown effectively by an AI
- sometimes the ADMMs can launch directly into the craft and blow it up (only happened once for me)
- unimpressive stall speed (around the same speed needed to land it)
- overperforming engines (throttle needs to be kept low if you plan on staying close to slow targets, like in the bomber escort mission, not too much of an issue though.)
- no chaff/flare doors (not doing allat !!!)
- no modeled inner cockpit / no VR support (fix: all info is showed on the all around screen, however VR support is not fixable.)

CONTROLS:
AG1: activate pods
AG2: activate parachute
AG3: open bay doors + activate internal missiles
AG4: release pods
AG5: activate afterburner (throttle=100%)
AG6: nav + formation lights
AG7: release all other armaments (wings + extra hardpoints)
AG8: toggle TVC

NOTE: when taking off, turning AG8 off is recommended. when landing, having AG8 on can be useful unless you plan to be going fast and then use the drag chutes to slow down.

LORE:
After the Su-41X proved its worth in battle, issues were still found. it didn't meet the needs for stealth, and couldn't compete well enough against newer FADU fighters to prove its price tag was worth it, so a new fighter was created off of it, that fixed all the issues it had, the YF/A-42.

The engineers and designers at Yukon Armories had went straight to work to make a much better evolution of the Su-41, that could provide the things the Wisterian Air Force (WAF) needed in a fighter, mainly stealth and a high weapon load. it mostly kept the shape of a Flanker, but had 5th gen properties, like an internal weapons bay, a Radar Absorbing Structure and Radar Absorbing Materials, and a more powerful radar.

After the development for the new fighter was finished, and it was deployed to its first combat mission, it proved to be worth every penny and every second of labor, being the worst headache for the FADU, and a piece of cake to fly for its pilots.

SCREENSHOTS: (these were taken before this iteration, but still worth it to put here.)
