Mikoyan MiG-29
The Mikoyan MiG-29 (NATO Reporting Name : Fulcrum) is a fourth generation twin-engine air superiority and multirole fighter aircraft designed and developed by Mikoyan in the Soviet Union. It is a complement of the supermaneuverable Sukhoi Su-27 and was meant to counter new American fighter aircrafts such as the F-15 and F-16. It might have similarities with the Sukhoi Su-27, however it has different features and was first introduced in the Soviet Air Force in 1982, 3 years before Sukhoi Su-27 is introduced.
It first flew in October 1977. It had different variants from the original to MiG-35.
Powered with two Klimov RD-33, which produces 11,110 pounds each, can reach Mach 2.25 or 2,400 km/h (1,500 mph) at a high altitude.
Armed with one Gryazev-Shipunov GSh-30-1 autocannon located on its port wing, 2 R-27 (AA-10 Alamo) medium range air-to-air missiles, and 4 R-73 (AA-11 Archer) short range air-to-air missiles.
It is currently used by several countries in Europe, Asia, Africa, and South America.
