Hispano Aviación Ha-300

This is a what if Hispano Aviación Ha-300, under the idea that Spain never abandoned the project and kept improving it into the 80’s. With this new era in technology, the small Ha-300 is able to carry two Active Radar Homing (Fox-3) missiles with a small and simple radar under the nose radome. It also carries two heat seeking missiles and a pair of cannons under the inlets. Along with this, the aircraft also has countermeasures and with its small size can be hard to hit with guns at range. This plane fills the same role as an aircraft like the Northrop F-5 and the Folland Gnat, a small, nimble, lightweight fighter that is easy to maintain and performs excellent in WVR combat, but can struggle in BVR fights. The Ha-300 has great rate capability and good first turn, but can fall behind in vertical engagements, such as a high G vertical spiral done by an aircraft with better energy retention. It is safe to think of the Ha-300 as a Jet age A6M, great turning, but a lower top speed and acceleration than other contemporary fighters like the F-15 or Su-27.

Controls -
VTOL - Flaps
AG1 - Airbrake
AG7 - Surprise ;)
Everything else is as expected

Weapons & Countermeasures -
x2 Fox-3 missiles (10 mi- 3 mi range)
x2 Fox-2 missiles (~2 mi- .5 mi range)
x2 Cannons
x50 Countermeasure shots

Side notes -
I had to do a lot of work to make it have some what believable performance, like take out a bunch of drag to keep the top speed at just over Mach 1 on the deck but have a thrust to weight of around 1.00, and then had to add airbrakes connected to pitch to make sure it bleeds speed in turns, then had to do other small things to make sure it feels nice and can be “piloted” by AI for dogfights.
