J.IB.1 'Falcon 1' (I)

15 B3nj1  9.3 years ago

The 'Falcon' series has been at the pinnacle of aircraft development for 3 generations of aircraft. The falcon was designed by the Wright Isles Air Defence Force as one component of a new wave of aircraft to try and bring a swift end to the war of union. The prototype first flew just two years before the end of that conflict and production series aircraft just 6 months after the prototype. Originally intended to be built in two variants, an Interceptor and a Bomber, the Falcons main emphasis has always been on speed. Unfortunately the series has been plagued by issues throughout it's lifespan, mainly with manoeuvrability, which has resulted in many redesigns of the aircraft.

The Falcon 1 (I) was the first variant to enter service. Intended to prevent any enemy Bombers from getting even close to the wright Isles it has 6 turbojet engines, allowing it to get up to 50,000ft within minutes of takeoff, and has a large compliment of missiles. Unfortunately the Falcon 1 could not out-turn enemy fighters and despite its altitude and speed advantages many were lost to enemy action, though it had an impressive 90% intercept rate of bomber aircraft. Only a few Falcon 1 (I) aircraft survive, one in a museum, and some stationed on the Wright Isles in dubious condition. Most were rebuilt into later variants of Falcon.
