The scientists took up the cause and chose the best mech pilot, more specifically Kido Reik, as their base. He himself agreed to become a test subject, for he was in any case on the verge of death. As a result, the pilot survived, retaining his identity while becoming an even more dangerous pilot. In order to preserve his sanity, the scientists decided to make his body humanoid and adjusted his mech systems to fit Kido's new body.
