A simple CANT Z.506-A 1930's Italian passenger floatplane built for Moonhead2131's Simple Airline Challenge. You can argue whether a build with 195 pieces is still considered simple, but it's a pretty straightforward build with no fancy gizmos and no cockpit or interior views and it is remarkably simple to fly. My only 'splurge' was to spend way too many parts on making the plane look like something out of an Indiana Jones movie or a Studio Ghibli aviator flick. ...and even there I easily could have spent another day on decals and accents.

Flying: Did I mention the plane is simple: VTOL down =flaps. That's all you need to know. The rest is your standard pitch-roll-yaw-throttle layout.... With the understanding that 'yaw' also engages the float rudders and differential thrust on the outer engines to better steer on water.

For takeoff: Pull flaps down, pull trim 1/2 way down and push the throttle. The plane will rise by itself at about 180mph. Set course for destination, play with trim to keep the plane level (you can fly the plane on trim alone)... And then go to the kitchen to pour yourself a coffee while the plane plows towards its destination at an historically accurate 250-280 mph.

At destination: Set throttle to idle (roughly 5-10%). At 100 ft, deploy flaps and let the plane land by itself. On the water, steer with Yaw and throttle to float to destination.

(ps, I shouldn't have to say this, but the CANT IS a floatplane, so don't even try to land on any airport.)

Happy landings...
