The Fletcher Sparrow was the first in the second generation of fighter jets for the Angolian airforce, first flying in 1950 and entering service in 1953 it would be one of the last aircraft made by Fletcher aircraft before they were merged into Fletcher aerospace in 1957, the Sparrow would serve through the echanan war and show itself to be very capable, it would be retired from frontline fighter duties in 1958 although it was kept in service till the end of the Echanan war as a strike fighter/reserve, after the war the trainer variant was kept in service until 1964.
