Su-41 Switchblade

The Sukhoi Su-41 Switchbalde is a soviet multi swept wing fighter, this plane have a unique wing design that have different swept modes the neutral is a standard position the open whe wings spit in 2 and mede a X like a mixed su-27 and su-47 and the tird is a full swept wing that the wing stay united and swept like the F-14, this plane had in mind exteme manouvability due to its movable wings and Trst vectoring whit a use for multirole whit a mix of AAM,ATGM and rocket in 6 wing pylons and 3 internal bays, this plane was one of the concept of the Su-47 program but it diden't pass the blueprint stat due to its complexity and aereodynamic characteristics.

@STALIN83 yep, this must be a brick, but may be able to reach 70 degrees of aoa without stall (but i wonder if the wing mounts withstand 6G's without ripping them away) the drag part im not sure, but the mix of 4 wings, the thick disk-shaped wing mount, and the canards (that ruins the supersonic drag by shockwaves) it may be a beautiful (or grotesque) tech demonstrator

i think this may be better a design without canards, using moving LERX/intakes (as the Su-57 or F-15) and a single swing wing able to switch fo forward, with a V-tail for weight reduction, and honestly. no thrust vectoring, the thrust vectoring is only useful at very high altitudes or very low speeds (post stall) but being expensive, just with a improved aerodynamic design you can imitate the TVC. just as the F-35 or Su-27/33 does

@upperflat hmm i didnt thought about that, at least i know that the su-41 should be able to move both wings together, or spread them, thats some renders in the internet, but i still prefer the single wing part

@VenusLancer how about the rear wing are sweptback wing(cant move). and front wing are swing wing? it should lower the complexity.

@VenusLancer deeamm bro,you did a great research good job, i also I showed it to a friend and he said that the forword wing in that config caused a lot of drag reducing manouvability, and he said good if you remove the trust vectoring and put in X mode the plane fly like a Brick+all the complex part fot the wings and the mechanism

@upperflat this is hipotethical... the forward swept wings provides high controlability at high Angles of attack, but this also forces the airflow to go to the wing roots, the rearward swept wings provides high stability and control at high speeds. the X shape may combine both and also disperse the lift, making very responsive and more stable that the "normal" FSW, also as Stalin83 said, the sonic booms gets bigger as a specific part of the wing/fuselage are wider, in the X wing should divide it into 2 smaller shockwaves in supersonic speed, with a "theorical" better supercruise and noise reduction

BUUUUUUUUUUUUUT not everything is beautiful, just imagine maintaining the horribly complex internal systems that controls the wings, ailerons, flaps, slats, spoilers (if it have) and pylons... if the F-14 went out of service for its maintain costs... imagine twice the complexity + the materials to build the wing mount.

anyway... this should be beautiful to see it fly even as a RC toy plane, and when i seen this concept more than a decade ago i build my XR-1 based on it, that was a Su-47 with variable geometry wings and F-35 engines

@upperflat for a compromise and better lift ant slow speed and onsent the sonic boom wave, the soviet/russian drunk good vodka while designing the plane

what a good point of X wing mode?
