Iron Lion M4A4A1 Main Battle Tank
It is equipped with a 125mm main gun, firing DM73 armor-piercing fin-stabilized discarding sabot (APFSDS) rounds.
Both the frontal hull and the gun mantlet are fitted with high-hardness reactive armor.
Although the installation of additional armor has not been accompanied by an engine upgrade, it has resulted in slower acceleration. However, the top speed remains stable at 63 km/h.
The side skirts of the M4A4A1 main battle tank have been reverted to the thicker armor used on the M4A3. Additionally, the original 130mm main gun has been replaced with a 125mm one. Although the caliber has been reduced, this version of the main gun features higher chamber pressure, allowing the muzzle velocity of its shells to reach 1,900 m/s.
The ammunition has evolved from the initial MK-SE (self-developed hard-core armor-piercing fin-stabilized discarding sabot round) to the DM63, and has now been updated to the DM73 armor-piercing round. High-hardness reactive armor has also been installed on the side armor plates of the turret, significantly enhancing the safety of the turret ammunition compartment.
Originally, there were plans to convert this version of the tank to manual loading. However, due to the Iron Lion's original design, the design team was unable to completely and accurately remove the large and sophisticated autoloader system. As a result, the system has been retained.
