The airline was the first to hire a flight attendant
In the 1930s, airlines, to put it mildly, were not interested in hiring women. For this reason, Ellen Church, a pilot and nurse, never took the co—pilot's seat. But the woman did not give up and suggested that Boeing Air Transit (the predecessor of the modern company) hire nurses to help the co-pilot. His duties included laying out chairs, distributing food and other services.
Ellen's offer was accepted and 8 nurses were hired for a three-month probation period. The deadline has long ended, and flight attendants have been and remain a symbol of passenger air transportation.
