Shadow Heavy Industry, Present:
Rock Fish or Okoze is a warship of the Mizuhara Federation Navy that served during the Fourth Neo Civil War and The Third Great War. She was the first destroyer ship of the Rock Fish class. Construction began in 2013 in Kurume on Yumemori Island by the Yumemori Shipyard Company and was commissioned in 2017, coinciding with Neorasia's regime change back to a communist state.
In October 2020, Rock Fish became a victim of an attack on the surface of the Shadow Company Navy, she was the only destroyer to survive the incident. After the tragedy, Rock Fish underwent repairs and reconstruction for a year, completing its refit in December 2021.
During the Fourth Neo Civil War, Rock Fish participated in the Second Battle of the Yellow Sea, the Battle of Okinawa Sea, the Battle of Hanako Bay, the Battle of the Taketomi Islands, the Battle of Yumemori Strait, and the Mizuhara Marine Corps Landing Operation on the Imperial Bay coastline.
In 2055, Rock Fish was involved in the Stjerneland Strait Confrontation with the Royal Stjerneland Navy.
During The Third Great War, Rock Fish became the Flagship of the Navy, a title given to the Leading Vessel of a nation's entire naval fleet. Throughout the war, Rock Fish took part in the invasion of the Sinan Islands, the Battle of Kwail Island, and ultimately met her end when she was sunk in the Battle of the Andora Sea.
Career
October 7th Tragedy
On October 7, 2020, at 1:26 AM, the destroyer Rock Fish, along with Marlin and Blue Fin, departed from Hanako Port to Kurume Port on Yumemori Island. At 2:06 AM, upon entering the Yumemori Strait, the destroyer Marlin detected an unidentified submarine in the strait. However, the captain of the destroyer Blue Fin reported that the submarine Sapporo was testing a new stealth system and ordered Marlin to ignore the detection.
At 4:52 AM, Rock Fish, Marlin, and Blue Fin arrived at Kurume Port, where the entire fleet had already assembled. The fleet was gathered for a planned naval rendezvous exercise. At 6:57 AM, the radar tower detected an unknown hypersonic missile heading toward the port. Combat Alert was declared throughout the port, and shortly after, the missile struck the cruiser Dolinsk, splitting her bow. Soon after, a barrage of anti-ship missiles and hypersonic missiles devastated the entire port.
At 9:35 AM, one hour and fifteen minutes after the attack ended, a rescue operation began to search for survivors among the wreckage of sunken fleet ships docked at the port. Rock Fish was discovered by the repair ship Akashi, which was assisting in the rescue operation. At that time, Rock Fish was found to be severely damaged, with her helicopter hangar destroyed, her BOW part damaged, and an unexploded missile lodged at her waterline.
On October 19, after Kurume Port had recovered following the October 7 tragedy, Rock Fish, which was still docked, was moved to a dry dock for repairs and reconstruction. On July 16, 2021, Rock Fish set sail again after undergoing a year-long reconstruction.
Fourth Neo Civil War
During the Fourth Neo Civil War, Rock Fish served as a command ship and rarely engaged in direct combat with Neorasia's surface fleet. However, during the Battle of Okinawa Sea, Rock Fish dueled with the battleship Tosa, inflicting moderate damage on Tosa. Rock Fish was hit by Tosa's main gun, with the shell piercing through the helicopter hangar. While the damage was minimal, one helicopter was destroyed, and three crew members were killed.
In the Battle of Hanako Bay, Rock Fish engaged directly with the Neorasia cruiser NAS Type-95. The Type-95 fired her 9.84-inch guns but missed all her shots. Rock Fish retaliated with her railgun, directly hitting the 9.84-inch gun's ammunition storage, causing an immediate explosion that sank the Type-95 within three minutes.
In the Battle of the Taketomi Islands, Rock Fish again served as a command ship and avoided direct combat with Neorasia's surface fleet. However, she sustained minor damage from an attack by Neorasia Air Force aircraft. During the Battle of Yumemori Strait, Rock Fish was assigned as an observation ship to monitor the bio-mechanical weapon ship Emden.
During the Mizuhara Marine Corps Landing Operation on the Imperial Bay coastline, Rock Fish provided fire support with her missiles and guns.
Stjerneland Strait Confrontation
On April 25, 2055, a confrontation occurred between the Royal Stjerneland Navy and the Mizuhara Federation Navy in the Stjerneland Strait, lasting for three months. During this period, 15 armed engagements took place between the two sides.
On July 3, Rock Fish, which was on patrol alongside the destroyers Akatsuki, Hibiki, and Emden, as well as the battleship Musashi, became involved in a battle with the Stjerneland super battleship KSS Freya, which had been detected by radar and visually confirmed.
Shortly after her position was discovered, KSS Freya launched a full-scale assault on the Mizuhara ships. Musashi was hit but sustained no critical damage, while Akatsuki and Hibiki managed to evade the attack. Rock Fish, however, suffered a direct hit and sustained heavy damage. The situation worsened with the arrival of the entire Stjerneland fleet.
Amidst the escalating battle, Emden, whose position had not been detected, suddenly emerged from underwater in its bio-mechanical form. Realizing they could not prevail, even with the presence of KSS Freya, the Stjerneland fleet chose to retreat. The Mizuhara fleet also withdrew to their base, with Rock Fish being towed by Musashi.
On July 17, 2055, the Yecropolis Treaty, a ceasefire between the Kingdom of Stjerneland and the Mizuhara Federation, was signed in Yecropolis, the capital city of the Kingdom of Yecross.
The Third Great War
The Third Great War was a global-scale conflict triggered by the invasion of the Federación Estelaria into the Union of Hanguk Socialist Republics on August 9, 2056. The Mizuhara Federation became involved in the Third Great War when Federación Estelaria invaded the Koryo-shima region on December 17, 2059.
On February 6, 2060, Rock Fish, as the flagship of the 1st Fleet, played a key role in the invasion of the Sinan Islands, part of the Hanguk Democratic People's Republic (HDPR) in the northern, alliance of Federación Estelaria. During the invasion, Rock Fish sank the HPN Yeonggwang, a battleship belonging to the HDPR, which was docked at the time.
On July 30, 2061, during the Battle of Kwail Island, Rock Fish and the 1st Fleet assisted the Republic of East Hanguk Navy in defending Kwail Island from an HDPR invasion. In this battle, Rock Fish, together with Musashi, successfully sank the aircraft carrier HPN Amnok.
The Battle of the Andora Sea was the first major defeat of the Mizuhara Navy against the Federación Estelaria Navy, which took place on January 19, 2063. During the battle, the Mizuhara Navy lost 2 aircraft carriers, 1 landing carrier, 1 heavy carrier, 2 heavy destroyers, 2 light carriers, 4 cruisers, and 9 destroyers.
The first ship to be sunk was the light aircraft carrier MFS Shizukishima, which was struck by 31 aircraft from the Federación Estelaria Navy. Rock Fish was the last ship to be sunk, specifically scuttled by the battleship Musashi after suffering catastrophic damage. Rock Fish capsized and sank with her entire crew within seven minutes after being hit by a torpedo launched by Musashi.
She was Stricken from the navy list on November 27, and the title of Flagship of the Navy was given to the battleship Musashi.
