The VAC-717 was VAC’s largest aircraft ever to be built. Instead of tiny fighter jets, medium bombers, and small cargo aircraft, VAC decided they wanted to make something massive. 10 years later, VAC introduced the VAC-717, a huge flying boat with a wingspan of 80 feet, a length of 45 feet, and a height of 17 feet. The VAC-717 had a small amount of roles including patrol and carriage of troops. As the largest aircraft of its time, the VAC-717 was nicknamed the Goliath due to its massive fuselage. The use of VAC-717s continued until today, with a small fleet of them being used as firefighting aircraft. Later, larger aircraft were built, slowly shrinking its need. “The VAC-717 is massive, and will stay massive.” -me, probably
