In 1846 plans for a steam corvette came out but by 1849 the ship class was switched to a IC or Iron Clad the ship was laid down in 1851 and by 1859 the 19 ships were completed which 4 of them were sold to France and the last 3 were sold to America and the seven completed ships would see action in the civil war and much more
