Brief Lore:

In the WCU universe, the 'Great War' had ended, and it was now the interwar period. Circa 1933, the first concept was published - A fighter featuring a push-puller configuration. This concept was cancelled in place of an upgrade to the Arkhälian DL-14 "Swiftstrike", a more reliable platform at the time.
The Swiftstrike was getting old, and its competitors were getting faster. A new concept was published for a fighter that could replace the Swiftstrike. The "Alpha", under the designation APF-1A (Adaptive/Multirole. Prop. Fighter.).

Circa 1940, the concept started development, rolling off the assembly line in 1941 as the APF-1B-7, being immediately deployed for combat in The Republic of Goolan, Tactonia, and Gazi Republic - Later deployed for homeland defense of Alpha Arkhäli in the middle of 1942 as the APF-1B-8 & APF-1C-2, and during the 'Second Great War' in Gielmany in 1943 as the APF-1D-12.
Over 17100 APF-1s were produced in total, with 10100 being sold as exports - During its two and a half years of service, fewer than 350 aircraft were destroyed in combat.
