DEFINITION
SVSL or Semi-Vertical Short Landing is a short runway landing concept developed by SHQ Aerospace System, combining a regular aircraft with a VTOL aircraft. SVSL works by activating the Liftfan and rotating the main engine not 90° downwards, but around 80° or less. This means the aircraft moves forward at a low speed but still has enough lift. This concept is easier to perform than a fully vertical landing, and it's easier to land on an aircraft carrier or a short runway. So with SVSL, the aircraft will descend slowly but still move forward at a low speed.
TAKE-OFF PROCEDURE
- Activate AG7.
- Raise VTOL. After reaching a speed of 100 kmh, raise the aircraft's nose. Even if VTOL is at 100%, if you lower the nose after you're airborne, you can still fall.
- Once you're high enough and the speed is above 200 kmh, lower the VTOL to -100% and then quickly turn off AG7. If you're wondering why, read the TIPS.
- Immediately after turning off AG7, after the main engine returns to its original position, increase the throttle. After that, you will fly steadily.
LANDING PROCEDURE
- Maintain a speed below 800 kmh. The lower the speed, the more you lower the VTOL. Make sure you are aligned with the runway.
- Landing is more difficult than taking off, and you may need to practice a few times to find the right distance. Usually, around 5 km from the landing spot, lower the throttle to 0%, set the VTOL to 0, and activate AG7.
- Activate AG2 to slow down to a speed below 300 kmh. Don't forget to turn it off.
- Lower the VTOL to -100% until you land.
- If landing on an aircraft carrier, activate AG6 for the Hook. Know that aircraft carrier runways are very short, my friend.
- After a smooth landing, turn off AG7 and start braking. If the brakes are not enough, activate AG2 for reverse thrust. But the brakes alone should be sufficient.
- Done
TIPS
- You must turn off AG7 only when VTOL is fully lowered. Your aircraft can rise on its own if you don't.
- Maintain a distance of about 2 or 3 km from your Inferno target. Otherwise, you could also get caught in the explosion. One Inferno can destroy a USS Beast and its two escort Destroyers simultaneously.
