Part of the Air Racer series!

Aircraft history bits and bobs

The Mer-164 "Hammerkopf" is Mermont attempt at a heavy racer class. It features an unique appearance of that a hammerhead shark, and feature vertical stabilizer directly placed on both of the massive engines, giving it a tailless appearance. As expected from it's look, it is in fact quite sluggish despite being a very quick aircraft, giving it the nickname of "Dragsters of the sky" by a couple pilot who prefer this plane out of all the options.

Trivia

  • The design was heavily inspired by a German WW2 Blohm & Voss design, which was never built
  • Despite it's slow control, this aircraft only has 2 minor accident during it's lifetime, and only 1 during a race, where THIS pilot (the one on the built) lost a landing gear during a time trial.
  • The other minor accident occured when a different pilot in this aircraft almost stalled and crash landed on a field during a high AoA maneuver, destroying all the 4 propellers.
  • As you guessed it, it is part of Mermont naming convention to name their race aircraft after fishes.
  • This aircraft is the most inconsistent aircraft when it comes to racing in the Air Racer series, having Atleast 66% W/L Ratio. Though this doesn't apply to the player themselves.
  • This aircraft got famous after this pilot time trialed through an active volcano using this plane, in which this plane is the only one to manage win in 5th place without a single scratch except for a couple burn marks unlike other Air Racer aircraft which suffer from major damages.

Anyways, enjoy!
