Wiki: More powerful than any of its predecessors, the Super Cub was the final development of the original 1937 Piper J-3 Cub, first flying in November 1949. When continuous production ended in 1981, nearly 1,700 had been built. The most powerful version, the PA-18-150 first appeared late in 1954. Many thousands of Super Cubs remain in private ownership worldwide.
