The light in the cockpit shows the state of the weight-on-wheels function. That works by checking if the rate of any of the the four (two per wheel) slip values is equal to zero. Inverting the resulting truth value gives a ‘true’, when the rate is not equal to zero. Using ‘|’ to or the values together means, that if any of the rates is not equal to zero, the wheight-on-weheels function will return ‘true’ or ‘1’ (depending on how you use it in funky trees).
