The PA-100 entered service with BA in 1975, and was originally a medium haul luxury airliner, but later became a long haul standard one. Although a propeller aircraft in the age of jets, it was quite capable and was very popular on medium haul flights within continents, for example with BA across Europe and United across the USA. It was also used by the militaries of the UK and USA as a bomber and trasport aircraft. It excelled in the latter role, as its large capacity meant that it could carry large numbers of troops. Note the glass at the front and rear, which provided excellent views for 1st and business class, who were seated at the nose and the tail respectively. It was phased out from major airlines by 1998, but continues to be used by smaller airlines and the military to this day.
