Background

The ZBT-10FV Alpaca is a specialized fire support vehicle developed as a variant of the ZBT-10 "Viper" main battle tank platform, designed by renowned defense engineer Dr. Malikov, the lead architect of the ZBT-10 series.

The vehicle is outfitted with a twin-barrel 40mm autocannon system, a 15mm heavy machine gun, and VK-25 “Peritya” anti-tank guided missiles (ATGM). It also features an enhanced transmission and mobility suite, allowing it to reverse at speeds of up to 28 km/h—a notable improvement over standard armored platforms, offering increased tactical flexibility, especially in urban and confined combat zones.

Beyond its core fire support role, the ZBT-10FV is also configured as a Self-Propelled Anti-Aircraft (SPAA) platform, capable of engaging low-flying aerial threats such as helicopters and ground-attack aircraft. This is made possible through the integration of proximity-fused ammunition, giving the vehicle an effective dual-role capability in combined arms operations.

The ZBT-10FV first saw operational deployment during the Battle of Hangzhou, with 21 units committed to intense urban combat. Seventeen vehicles were destroyed, while four were captured intact by the 1st Cavalry Division of the Mizuharan Armed Forces, who executed a rapid armored assault on the city.

Later, during the Battle of Jade Harbor, 18 remaining ZBT-10FV units under the Neorasian People's Army were tasked with defending the strategic location. In a notable engagement, a single Alpaca unit successfully conducted a flanking maneuver, disabling six Mizuharan MBTs before being destroyed by an aerial precision strike.

At the conclusion of the Fourth Neorasian Civil War, records confirmed a total production of 7,183 ZBT-10FV Alpaca units. Of these, 6,883 were lost in combat, while 300 were captured by the Federation of Mizuhara. Post-war, the design was reinstated into active service under the “Eclipse Circle Program”, with the Federation commencing localized production and modernization efforts to integrate the vehicle into its new combined arms doctrine.
