KRI Banjarmasin (592) is the 3rd LPD type ship of which two ships of this type were previously made at Daesun Shipbuildings & Engineering Co. Ltd , South Korea , and now made at PT. PAL Indonesia , Surabaya . This ship is designed as a support ship for amphibious operations, which has the ability to transport landing troops along with combat vehicles and their equipment. This ship is also capable of transporting 5 helicopters (3 on the heli deck, 2 in the hangar). Aside from being a combat ship, this ship with semi- stealth design technology also functions for humanitarian operations and natural disaster management.
