The HX-2 from Rheinmetall is a tactical multi-purpose military truck that was anounced 2012. This is the “LAW” (Luftabwehr) version which is armed with 5 mid range SAM missiles.

The Bundeswehr wanted a new anti aircraft system to replace the aging “Patriot” systems and assigned Rheinmetall MAN with the task to create a new mid range AA system. Rheinmetall presented the “HX-2 Luftabwehr” which was essentially a HX-2 heavy multi-purpose truck with eight-wheel drive (8x8) what made it perfect for both off-road and streets were it could reach a max speed of 80 km/h and 5 of the brand new and revolutionary “Boden-Luftrakete 90” (BLR-90) mid range SAM’s which had both high max speed and super high maneuverability. It quickly replaced all patriot systems in the inventory of the german Bundeswehr and even gained popularity in other country’s. It was given the official designation “20mm BLR-90 Boden-Luft Flugabwehrraketensystem Friedrich auf 30t MAN schweres mehrzweck Radkraftfahrzeug HX-2” but was more often called “Friedrich FlaRakRad” because of the long name.

It is pretty decent with tiny details like a moving exhaust cap or blinkers. I am pretty proud of this thing honestly. Especially of the driving performance.
