Background Story:
When the military saw the civilian Axiom of Luxury they immediately recognized the strategic and tactical potential of such an amazing plane. Thus was born the "Axiom of Heraldry" program, from which the GRYFFON series of advanced strategic fighters was created. The Mark III keeps the Axiom of Luxury's unique ANANSI anti-countermeasures system, the VORTEX precision anti-aircraft Cannon , and the CONCURRENCE interdiction system, while adding two extremely powerful SHOCK BEAM Cannons--one in a ventral turret to enable devastating ground attacks, and the other in a forward facing dorsal barbette. A pair of stern chaser PHOENIX TAIL gatling lasers was also added, along with a suite of five nose and wingtip lasers. The Mk. III has also been equipped with additional flare and radar countermeasures and the new pontoonless buoyancy system, which together with the plane's excellent VTOL system, allows it to take off and land from any convenient body of water.

The Gryffon Mk III is also equipped with the Vortex Cannon, an advanced long distance anti-aircraft weapon (Cleaver based) and a full suite of air-to-ground attack missiles (Inferno based). The plane has two additional camera systems: the first is attached to the ventral Shock Cannon while the second is aft facing.
