Gloster Goldfinch AFG (challenge entry)

GOOD AS GOLD

richer than a glitterati, this fighter is no rookie to the business of multirole combat. any aircraft company to use this aircraft would seem out of their mind. an idea so cockeyed it could work, a biplane up against the latest? seems the motto always is, "it worked for the Russians".

The Gloster Goldfinch may seem a newcomer, but this aircraft is more than the jive bomber it quite literally is now. For the aircraft, it all started in the 20s, when the Gloster aircraft company entered a competition with the Bristol Bulldog, and the Bulldog won.

The Goldfinch sat in storage in one of the company hangars, until a new fighter group was brought along, the Alpine Fighter Group. company executives saw the potential of the aircraft being capable of super STOL with a newer, more powerful engine. with the new engine (and serious lightening) the aircraft was ready to go to competition, where it is readying now.*

Of course, not without serious upgrades. compared to the original fighter, the aircraft has a significant power increase. two extra cannons are used for APHE rounds, with the machine guns delegated to Incendiary/AP rounds. the ordnance includes 2 100lbs bombs, and 1 1000lbs bombs.

Although, in order to compete, the aircraft was given serious upgrades to stopping power, in the form of Drogue Chutes, which are a form of parachutes meant to stop things. not only that, but for safety of the pilot (and the aircraft), the aircraft has full airframe parachutes.

Controls:

AG1: Drogue Chute
AG2-3: N/A
AG4: Landing Light
AG5: Nav Lights
AG6: Canopy
AG7: Emergency Chutes
AG8: Engine
VTOL: Trim Aileron
Trim: Trim Elevators
Gear: N/A

TAKEOFF: Throttle 100, Pull up. finish pulling when at positive rate.
CRUISE: 90-170 kts IAS, maintain below 35,000 ft.,
DIVE-BOMB: dive at most at 230 kts IAS.
LANDING: approach at 60 kts IAS, level approach. at touchdown, if without bounce, activate Drogue Chutes, and brake. with bounce, wait on the chutes.
EMERGENCIES: In an emergency, find a vaguely flat piece of land, or a carrier, kill your engine, and glide toward a point above the landing spot. then, activate the emergency chutes. after stabilization, open the canopy.

@AntiAirNuri I can't do that; I don't have access to something that could change the aircraft's XML.

    • Please note that this does not imply that the Goldfinch ever actually was used after the competition, only one was ever really built.
