Its December 7, 1941, and at around 8:30 AM, Pearl harbor gets attacked by the Japanese in two separate rounds. a few hours after the bombing stopped, the US is notified of the attack, and to put it in short, they're PISSED. They grab all of their scientists, and get to work on a new technology, called a turbofan. The first test was thought to be a failure, due to the engine shooting out fire, but then they noticed that it flew out at a constant rate, and let out a large 8 thousand pounds of thrust. They called the jet the JH-84 MUSTANG, and decided that they would take this jet engine, and build a war machine off of it, This was how the P-41 MUSTANG was made. it's first flight was in 1943, and it reached a speed of 406 miles per hour at its top speed. this proved that the jet was capable of outrunning almost every plane ever made. they took a Gattling gun, and 6 bombs, and strapped them to the jet, making it war worthy. The jet went on to shoot down 846 planes, 1032 unconfirmed, and was shot down 30 times. this jet escorted bombers, and dropped bombs on battleships. This jet was the jet that took out the Japanese Yamato, and it is widely considered the strongest fighter bomber of world war 2.
