McDonnell Douglas MD-87

The McDonnell Douglas MD-87 is a narrow-body, twin turbofan, medium-haul airliner that entered service in 1987; being a shorter variant of McDonnell-Douglas MD-80 family. The MD-80 was designed as a successor to the DC-9. Up to that point, DC-9 variants were just upgraded in capacity, with little change to any other parts of the aircraft. In the late 1970s, work began on a stretched variant of the DC-9-50, called the DC-9-55/DC-9-60, before being redesignated the DC-9-80. It was intended to have an upgraded variant of the Pratt and Whitney JT-8D engines, larger wings, high MTOW, new main landing gear, and heavily upgraded avionics. Swissair became the launch customer for the aircraft, and it entered service with the airline in 1981. It would soon be re-designated to the MD-80. It would go on to serve for numerous airlines. Affectionately nicknamed the ‘Maddog’ by pilots (A reference to the aircrafts ‘MD’ name). The MD-87 was launched in 1987 by Austrian Airlines. It was shorter than the other variants, and redesigned low-drag tail cone, the later of which becoming standard for other MD-80s, and a retro-fit option. Scandinavian Airlines used the MD-87, as well as -81, -82, and -83 models as well, until 2012, 2010, 2013, and 2005 respectively. The MD-80, although popular in many parts of the world in the 1980s and 1990s, it has been largely retired.

This is my latest replica. I am relatively happy with it, and I finally replicated emergency exits and doors (Honestly quite badly), but it does add so nice detail. AG groups in instructions, have fun.

P.S: Yes, I'm a lazy moron, and re-used the nose from my DC-9, but considering that's what they did IRL, so....don't complain :)
