The battleship USS New Jersey (BB-62)（Chinese：新泽西号战列舰-爱荷华级战列舰，舷号62） was the second ship of the Iowa-class battleships of the United States, built by the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard with construction starting on September 16, 1940. She was launched on December 7, 1942, and commissioned on May 23, 1943. During World War II, she served as the flagship of Admiral William F. Halsey and the Third Fleet, participating in operations against Japan, including major Pacific battles such as the Mariana Islands campaign and the Battle of Leyte Gulf. She was recommissioned three times to provide fire support during the Korean War and the Vietnam War. USS New Jersey went through four cycles of commissioning and decommissioning: she was first decommissioned in 1948 and recommissioned during the Korean War in 1950; after her second decommissioning in 1957, she briefly participated in the Vietnam War in 1968; after modernization with missile systems in 1981, she was recommissioned in 1982 and took part in military operations in Lebanon; finally, after being decommissioned in 1991, she was turned into a museum ship in 2000, open to the public in New Jersey. She earned nine, four, and three battle stars during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War, respectively.
