About Ship

Furakawa Class, or as folks like to call her, Miss Fura, is a type of battlecruiser built by the Otsumokuri military shipyard company between 1986 and 1990, with a total of 7 ships made. These ships are still pretty common in the Navy, although most of them still use the old-school design that’s been restored—since building a brand new one is just way too expensive. So yeah, most of them only got restored versions.

Even so, lots of countries kept producing this Type of warship to meet their maritime needs. Not for no reason—at that time, the world was kind of heating up with a bunch of international conflicts. These big ships were made ready for all that.

Anyway, back to the point...

The name “Furakawa” itself comes from the myth of the Furakawa clan, a legendary symbol from the days of Tsudamori (Old name of Otsumokuri). The story goes that they were warrior clans who died in battle and whose spirits still wander, trying to serve their nation once more. Or at least, that’s what the legends—or history—say...

Back to the topic... again.

The Furakawa class was the most advanced battlecruiser of its time. The only ship fitted with 8 internal anti-ship missile slots and a total of 16 torpedoes. Not only was it super modern, but it was also the fastest cruiser around—hitting top speeds of 42 knots, reverse speeds around 18 knots, and able to pull off sharp turns like it’s drifting, dude—just like in Haifuri.

Size-wise, it's considered medium, but it packs a serious punch: 4 main twin 325mm gun turrets, 16× 400mm torpedoes, and 8× 370mm anti-ship missiles. As for AA guns, I didn’t include any since my AA system is kinda complicated—like 120 parts minimum. But hey, feel free to add your own if you want. There’s a circular space on the deck for that.

Combat Notes

During the Shamori War, Furakawa-class ships were deployed in several major naval campaigns. The most iconic one? The Port de David incident. That’s where two Furakawa ships were sent in alongside the second ship of the Kagerou class, the Kageshiro. The names of the two Furakawa ships? Never mentioned.

On Tuesday, September 25th, 1994—just seven days after war broke out between Otsumokuri and Sharond—these ships sailed toward a Sharond port near the border. Around 1 AM, a thick fog rolled in and messed with their navigation, but hey—it actually worked in their favor. They used it to sneak into the port, fooled the patrol ships, and landed.

The port staff and guards at the time were super careless—like, they legit thought the ships were just some civilian tankers. They saw a weird flag, but brushed it off as some kind of night mirage or something.

Then, at around 5:25 AM, the fog started clearing up and the morning light hit the two massive ships, already aimed and locked on to everything in sight. Cannons ready. All hell was about to break loose.

Okay, that’s kind of a spoiler, so I’ll stop there.

Design-wise: the bow was inspired by the Yamato class, the turrets by Nagato and Hood, the hull and bridge by Deutschland and Scharnhorst, and the pagoda mast + funnel by the Iowa class.

RIN stands for Retsugun no Imperial Navy, which is the navy branch of the elite unit Retsugun :
