Fictional history

In 1974 first prototypes of JF-8 were delivered to Ukraine's air force. The aircraft's performance was great but it had some drawbacks, such as unsatisfactory low speed handling and sea level velocity.

Later that year, Sikorsky aircraft company, the creator of original JF-8 proposed an upgraded version.
Air force ordered an experimental prototype under designation XJF-8b.
In 1975 model was tested and showed better performance than that of JF-8. The aircraft had overcame poor low speed handling by having leading edge slats. Sea level speed was increased by changing nozzle design. Air force was satisfied and ordered 100 new jets. Aircraft was designated as JF-8c.

Production aircraft was equipped with new radar and state-of-the-art long-range fire and forget Deathclaw missiles.
