The VCS Penemaster 40 is currently the loudest air raid siren ever made, outputting an ear splitting 140 db @ 100 ft, dethroning the Chrysler Air Raid Siren by 2 db. The siren is derived from the ACA P-50 and uses the Cyclone's stator, as well a rescaled version of the P-10's intake. The conical intake allows the sound to be amplified as it travels through the horn, without the need to make the end of the horn larger. The rear cover of the siren was made spherical, with no clear reasons. There are several limitations, such as the PMDC motor being limited to 40 HP, and still drawing up to 60A on startup. The slower windup of the siren leads to the attack signal not cycling properly in the first 30 seconds of the activation.
