5th Generation Airpower for Taiwan.
The AIDC Starcrest F-32 Kanata is a joint development program between Taiwan’s Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation (AIDC) and Starcrest United, designed as a true 5th generation multirole fighter to safeguard Taiwan’s sovereignty in the face of growing Chinese aggression. Drawing on Starcrest’s advanced stealth airframe technology and AIDC’s experience with indigenous fighter development, the Kanata combines low-observable shaping, radar-absorbent coatings, and next-generation avionics with a flexible combat role. Built to excel in both air superiority and precision strike, the fighter represents Taiwan’s first step into the 5th generation era with a domestically co-produced aircraft. By balancing international expertise with indigenous production, the Kanata not only strengthens Taiwan’s deterrent capability but also creates a long-term industrial backbone for the island’s defense aviation sector. With its multirole design, the F-32 Kanata ensures that Taiwan can field an agile, survivable, and future-ready fighter fleet to meet the challenges of escalating regional threats.
Stealth is at the heart of the F-32 Kanata’s design, ensuring survivability in heavily contested airspace by reducing its radar cross-section and infrared signature. The airframe’s angular shaping, internal weapons bays, and advanced radar-absorbent coating allow it to penetrate dense air defense networks undetected, a critical advantage in any confrontation with the People’s Liberation Army. Despite its low-observable profile, the Kanata maintains extensive payload flexibility, capable of carrying both indigenous and allied weaponry. Its arsenal includes the AIM-120 AMRAAM and AIM-132 ASRAAM for beyond-visual-range and close-combat engagements, as well as Taiwan’s own Tien Chien-1 (TC-1) and Tien Chien-2 (TC-2) air-to-air missiles. For strike missions, it can field AGM-65 Mavericks, AGM-84 Harpoons for maritime interdiction, and AGM-88 HARMs for suppression of enemy air defenses. By combining cutting-edge stealth with a diverse, modular weapons suite, the Kanata guarantees that Taiwan’s Air Force can dominate the skies while also striking ground, naval, and electronic threats with precision and lethality.
