The R-3 "Mercury" is a mid-wing, tandem-seat advanced sporting aircraft developed by Roush Systems as a higher-performance luxury aircraft for recreational civilian pilots. The R-3 pioneered many craft techniques for Roush, like complex cockpits, specific customized paint schemes, and automated cruising. Its contra-rotating propellers, streamlined design, and light weight gives it handling and speed characteristics comparable to some light jet aircraft, for only a fraction of the operating cost.
