The crash of National Airlines Flight 102 happened because, on 29 April 2013, the Boeing 747-400 freighter had just lifted off from Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan when several of the heavy MRAP armored vehicles it was carrying broke loose inside the main deck. Those 20-ton trucks slid backward toward the tail, instantly shifting the aircraft’s center of gravity far behind its safe limit. The tail became so heavy that the nose pitched sharply upward, the wings lost lift, and the airplane stalled only a few hundred feet above the ground. Unable to recover from the stall at such low altitude, the 747 rolled over and crashed, killing all seven crew members.
