History: In mid 1947, as Germany was pushing back against the Allied forces, Focke-Wulf designer Kurt Tank took his design for the TA-184 Huckebein to the next stage of development. He equipped the Huckebein II with a radar, night-fighting equipment, and removed the landing gear to make the plane faster and more maneuverable. The plane had two bulges, one on either side of the fuselage, to hold the radar equipment, as well as more ammunition for the four MK.103 30mm cannons in the nose. The last Huckebein II was pulled from active duty in March of 1962.
