expanding on this lore i guess
in 1993 Azer's air force was loosing badly against the USAF. like 25-1 badly. after a major dogfight between a bomber formation an USAF F-16 was downed. oh baby AAF needed that wreck, because with the tech they got from it, they made the AD-5 LATE. this jet basically is just an upgraded AD-5 that can now hold Air-to-Air missiles and defend itself. all weapons on AD-5 LATEs were captured from the USAF through various ways. weapons captured ranges from AIM-7s, AIM-9s, various random general purpose dumb bombs, Incendiary bombs, BALTs (this aircraft has the only 2 Azer got), and tomahawks. you would think AAI would produce a ton of these right? right? NO, only 20 were made. why didnt they produce alot, well their main factory got bombed before they were able to upgrade all AD-5s to LATE specs. yeah these aircraft only were able to stall the Azer-United States conflict for around a year before Azer inevitably fell . they were good at what they did at shoot down USAF jets and do strike missions. but now with the US in control of Azer, the rest is history (12 were scrapped in revenge, the rest were turned into A-11s)
