Unity makes all releases available for download. Actually realized they did update the game, so you'll need to use 2022.3.41f1. The website will flag this as having a security vulnerability, that means a vulnerability in the game, not the editor itself so not something you have to worry about.
I made this video a while back and only recently finished editing it. I haven't been super active lately, I've been focusing more on school and music production and stuff. The quality of this video is not quite what I would have liked it to have been, but I think it does have all the basic knowledge you need to make a mod map in SP in 2024.
also if you could subscribe to my YT that would be nice :)
Figured it out.
Turns out I had mistakenly started the project in that universal rendering thingy. Oopsie daisy.
Export wasn't working as expected (idk what I did wrong, probably something), so I had to remake the map.
It worked.... but I forgot to put the base below sea level. Sigh.
In any case, good news! The world will be ravaged soon enough.
It looks perfectly fine in Unity, but in the game itself?
Boom, land of magenta with no shaders whatsoever. Clearly it's a shader issue, but with absolutely no indication of what's causing it, especially seeing as every online tutorial assumes that it's also pink in Unity.
When it isn't.
The sheer amount of resentment that is being bred within me every time I rewatch the section about textures and the video calls it "simple" surely cannot be healthy.
That is unquestionably the part that has given me the most trouble.
It's all pink.
It's all fucking pink.
Why the fuck is it always fucking pink.
Trying the other version again.
At this point I'm just clicking shit in the hopes something works.
If only doing anything didn't take 40 bloody minutes.
Update: it took 40 minutes and then did not work.
I tried compiling again, this time not changing the name during.
It took 6-8 minutes, and sort of worked. The textures are not there for some reason. Hm.
It's all unshaded purple.
Goodness I hope this works.
It needs to.
It so needs to.
The world needs this.
This will have consequences for the world at large. This will have consequences for the world at large. This will have consequences for the world at large.
@32 like hell I know. This other version didn't have that "start creating mod" or whatever button. It's currently compiling.
It's been 14 minutes.
My computer is running out of RAM.
@32 Idk, that's what the mod creator thingy button said. It's currently opening yet another version.
hurraayyyyyyy

@Graingy 41f1 is the version the game is, so I am curious if there would be issues trying to use 9f1. Although I suppose old mods haven't broken yet so idk. Let me know how it goes.
@Graingy I will say if you haven't already, I'd watch the whole video before you attempt to follow any individual steps. Hopefully that way you can have a little better big picture understanding rather than just clicking the same buttons I'm clicking.
@Graingy no worries, I know I needed a ton of help when I started. That's why I made the video, but Lord knows it's missing a lot. Weird that the direct download link isn't working for you though, when I paste it into Firefox it just insta-downloads.

The intro got cut off in the upload :(

@Graingy That link supposedly stays up to date, I just don't know if they updated the files for the most recent game update.
So. Many. Downloads.
It's possible that it's because I got the mod tools from a 2.8 year old link?
idk none of this makes sense anymore.

9f1 is the version. Goody.
also mac compatibility apparently didn't download. Huzzah.
Wrong unity version.
god damnit.
AND NOBODY CAN STOP ME!
I am going to make fucking skin land

Sorry about this. Hopefully that's the end of the issues.
Goodness knows it won't be, though...
Thanks for the help, in any case.
@32 Well good news is that it's now in unity. the Simpleplanes tab, I mean.
