I present to you my new mod: Simple Wings.
With this wings you can make Pugachev's Cobra on unstable airplanes:
You can create complicated mechanization of wing:
You can disable wing mesh and they become invisible. It can be useful if you want to create custom wing from fuselage blocks:
This mod contains Simple Wing part in Wings category:
1. Wing attributes:
First what you should to do after dragging simple wing from wings category - click the
Update wing. After this base mesh of simple wing:
become a true simple wing mesh:
Side- Right/Left. The actions with mirroring of wing will be hard. It is no possible to mirror wing if after mirroring second Right/Left wing intersect first Right/Left wing. For mirroring you should to do these actions:
1.Drag the wing by step dragging with high nudge amount while this wing will not intersect same wing on the left side of aircraft with the same X coordinate ( but X coordinate on the left side will be negative).
2. Mirror this wing.
3. Click the
4. Return both wings by nudge amount on their position.
5. Press Shift + K to reattach mirrored wing.
Show CoL - show Center of Lift. Enable/disable CoL of all wing (Blue ball) and CoL of surface (Green ball).
Invisible - make wing invisible.
Root leading offset, Root trailing offset, Tip leading offset, - same attributes which have Structural Wing.
Tip trailing offset, Tip length, Tip offset
Positive flow separation, Negative flow separation - these attributes set the maximum lift force at positive and negative angle of attack which you set. On this graph you can see default dependence Lift force = F(Angle Of Attack):
Horizontal axis - current angle of attack.
Vertical axis - Lift force coefficient.
The lift force at the 90 degrees of AOA = 1/2 of maximum lift force.
The lift force at the 180 degrees of AOA = 3/4 of maximum lift force.
Neutral lift at, AOA - if this value = 0, then wing are symmetrical and don't create lift force at 0 degrees of AOA. If this value < 0 , then wing create lift force if even angle of attack = 0. It is the Semisymmetrical / Flat bottom type of wing. This value set the angle of attack when lift force will be zero. And
this value moving all graph up.
Positive flow separation = 30, negative flow separation = -30, neutral lift at -10:
Positive flow separation = 30, negative flow separation = -15, neutral lift at -5:
Global lift multiplier- lift multiplier of all wing.
Multiply the lift force of surface too.
CoL moving- Enable/disable moving Center of Lift back at high angle of attack.
Horizontal axis - current angle of attack.
Vertical axis - Center of Lift position in % of middle aerodynamic chord.
At the 0 degrees of AOA Center of Lift position = 25% of middle aerodynamic chord. At the 150 degrees of AOA Center of Lift position = 65% of middle aerodynamic chord.
Get velocity in - 1 point / 2 points. If you set 1 point, the wing will be work like game wing. If you set 2 points, the simple wing will be consider the length of middle aerodynamic chord. More length of MAC = more hard to pitch rotation of airplane.
Control surface, % - percentage of control surface.
1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th input angle - max angle of first, second, third and fourth input controllers.
Speed rotation, % - speed rotation of surface.
Surface lift multiplier, surface drag multiplier - lift multiplier and drag multiplier of surface. Green and red arrow show you current lift and drag force of surface. If surface lift multiplier = 1 and surface drag multiplier = 1, then surface drag force = 1/2 from surface lift force. The lift and grag dependence from angle of surface rotation are linear.
Leading edge, % - leading edge percentage. It rotating automatically. Does not affect anything.
Leading edge angle - maximum angle of rotation leading edge.
Trail effect - enable/disable vortex from tip of wing at high angle of attack. Existing only at positive angle of attack.
Wing effect - enable/disable vortex from all wing at high angle of attack. Existing only at positive angle of attack.
This wing don't have a drag at 0 degrees of AOA. The drag of wing creating automatically if AOA not zero.
2. Difference from game wings:
The main difference from wings in game - surface lift force. Surface has own middle aerodynamic chord and own center of lift (green ball) at 50% of MAC. The force created in this point. If you will create flaps, they will work like elevator too: they will create pitching moment:
More distance from surfaces to center of mass -> then surfaces will work more like elevators and less like flaps.
Also, if mass of your airplane very low, then it will jittering:
Set low global lift multiplier, if you use big wings on light airplanes.
ALL WINGS MUST BE ATTACHED TO YOUR AIRPLANE. If some wing is not attached,it can create some problems with game. For example - PC users can not rotate camera in game. And you will see in log this:
