About
Car Parts is a mod which adds all sorts of 3D models relating to cars, although some parts can be used for other purposes.
The mod contains the following highly detailed 3D modelled parts:
- Wheel rims
- Steering wheels
- Brake assemblies (brake discs/rotors and brake calipers)
- Car seats
- Modular car engines
- Engine sound blocks
- Suspension parts
The wheel rims and brake assemblies are designed to be added to a vanilla wheel with the hideRims
attribute set to true. The full installation instructions are below. Steering wheels and car seats have a few settings to customize, and the engines are highly detailed and modular. Please note certain components are intended to match other components, such as matching the right exhaust manifold to the right turbocharger. We decided to allow for this level of customizability so you can make your own parts if you wish, such as a custom exhaust (my original idea was to have less options, for example adjusting the exhaust manifold, exit pipe, and intake pipe based on the selected turbo).
While the modular car engines may look good, they don't make any sounds. MVC had the idea of adding custom engine sounds, which are available in the Engine Sound category. The input should be an engine RPM variable (from the vanilla car engine or your own simulated RPM), with a range of 0 (idle) to 1 (max RPM).

Installation Instructions
Wheel Rims
- On the vanilla wheel, open Overload and set
hideRims
to true. - Copy the position of the vanilla wheel.
- Close Overload, drag one of the three custom rim parts out, and open Overload on the new part.
- Paste in the copied position into the new part's position, and close Overload.
- Open the part settings of the wheel rim, and set the
Size
,Width
,Turning Angle
, andTyre Type
settings to be the same as the vanilla wheel. The mod part should now scale to fit the vanilla wheel. - If the mod rim has been mirrored, toggle the
Flip Model
button to "Yes". - Select a rim model using the
Model Type
button. - Select the vanilla wheel, and open the variable outputs menu. Enter in a name for the
RPM
attribute. - On the mod rim, in the input controller called "Rim Rotation", enter in sum(<variable name goes here>). It is important that each vanilla wheel and mod rim has its own unique RPM variable to ensure each mod rim spins with the vanilla wheel.
- Set the turning rate slider to match the vanilla wheel's turning rate. This defaults to the default rate of the vanilla wheel and should only be changed if needed.
Brake Assemblies
- On the vanilla wheel, open Overload and copy the position.
- Close Overload, drag the brake assembly part out, and open Overload on the new part.
- Paste in the copied position into the new part's position, and close Overload.
- Open the part settings of the brake assembly, and set the
Size
,Width
,Turning Angle
, andTyre Type
settings to be the same as the vanilla wheel. The mod part should now scale to fit the vanilla wheel. - If the brake assembly has been mirrored, toggle the
Flip Model
button to "Yes". - Select a brake disc model and a brake caliper model using the
Brake Disc Type
andBrake Caliper Type
buttons. - On the brake assembly, in the input controller called "Assembly Rotation", enter in sum(<variable name goes here>). It is important that each vanilla wheel and brake assembly has its own unique RPM variable to ensure each brake disc spins with the vanilla wheel.
- Set the turning rate slider to match the vanilla wheel's turning rate. This defaults to the default rate of the vanilla wheel and should only be changed if needed.
If you wish, the brake caliper rotation can be changed with a slider.
Other Parts
Steering Wheels
This part is fairly simple to use; just adjust the "Size" and "Turning Angle" sliders and "Model Type" button to suit your needs. Set the turning rate slider to match the turning rate of your wheels, and the actual turning angle slider to match the turning angle of your wheels (this is unrelated to the turning angle of the steering angle and is used to calculate a value in the code). This defaults to the default rate of the vanilla wheel and should only be changed if needed.
Seats
Similar to the steering wheels, these part are simple to use, with several models available for selection. There are three different parts. The first part contains nine seats, and has an adjustable seat back angle in the part settings, as well as size and model options. The second part contains three seats without an adjustable seat back, and the third part contains a few seats intended for the rear of a car, since they are more like bench seats.
Car Engines
There are several car engine models available in this mod, each with a high level of customizability. You can select the type of various components, such as air filters, intake manifolds, exhaust manifolds, turbochargers, and more. Some engines also have moving components such as radiator fans, connected to an input controller.
Suspension Parts
A wide assortment of models for suspension parts, useful for building complex steering and suspension mechanisms with a lower part count.
Engine Sound Block
A block with alternative sounds to the vanilla car engines. The audible RPM is connected to an input controller, and there are different types of engine sounds available, such as standard cars, trucks, and race cars. There is also a part to disable the vanilla engine sound.
Credits
Aside from MVC and myself, I would like to credit MOPCKOEDNISHE
for helping me add more than one input controller to a part.
No Mobile
Mobile mods with scripts have been unsupported for 6 years now.
@Chinedu Must I put the no mobile statement on every mod I make?
Bro plz can u make a mobile version of the mod plz
o maw gawd
@MOGETA4BattleBots uhh, man do i got some news for you!
Dear Devs This must be in SP2
@Kenzo316actual Please read the FAQ on one of my recent progress updates
@PlaneFlightX will your SWL-120 be a mod or will you be able to download a version of it for vanilla SP?
Simple Vechiles
Well I hope mobile mod support is a thing in sp2
@MVC That is a pity. I was hoping for a functioning underwater mod and the associated drives. Just kidding. Thanks for the car parts. :)
@YokaiBear blame google not devs
The amount of detail is amazing!
@YokaiBear unfortunately no; mobile mods have been unsupported for many years
Does this work for mobile?
@TunerTakedown could be better with android version of the but there's no Frick you google also
Dang, no android mods
Crap you google
@Firgreen I have plans to update this mod. This year, we also plan to publish 2 maps and 2 more maps in the future. (for cars)
@Firgreen Thanks! I don't have any plans to make more mods like this one, although I am working on the mod for my SWL-120, which should be out sometime this year.
@EdwardAviation Yes
@PlaneFlightX
Very cool mod! Is there a chance to see more mods from you in the future?
@marcox43 yes
Do I spot an OZ Rally over there? o.o
@PlaneFlightX r u still working on ur new SWL-120?
@EdwardAviation its not easy to make mods...
