Looking for a solution to a naval game type idea

Hey guys what’s up I haven’t been around for two months but I’ve had an idea floating around for multiplayer. And yes it’s inspired off of world of warships n whatever.

So basically I wanted to create a decent battleship/destroyer to be used in multiplayer battles. Yeah you can do this in world of warships but if I can possibly make it possible than I want to do it.

This how I pictured the system working for the ships. The ship itself, Hull, decoration and all would be completely immune to fire, in this case being rockets fired from enemy ships. The ship itself would be entirely non bouyant. For buoyancy/health/hp I imagined having pillars at the bottom of the ship extending from port to starboard, and these pillars would line across the ship like a xylophone. Basically, these pillars are the ‘health’ of the ship. Intended to be destructible by rockets, and the only parts with buoyancy on the ship. So in effect, when one of those pillars are destroyed, the part leaves and the ship loses buoyancy, until all/enough of the pillars have been destroyed allowing the ship to sink.

This sounded like a great idea rather than have rockets instakill a whole ship. Only problem I’ve run into so far is... rockets insta kill a whole ship. I’m not an experienced modder so i’m Very unsure on how to go about this. I have tried to make the ship infinite health + no collision so the rocket would go through, but as soon as the rocket hits one of those bouyancy pillars the ship just parts out. I’m super stumped and was wondering if the game engine simply won’t allow my idea to come to life.
