I see what you guys mean but solar panels can be super light and batteries could be holding the engine off until the cloud passes and there is a solar powered glider

I mean an entire roof ful of westfacing panels can only partly power a house. Plus, a single cloud could take you out. @Meawk

Plus you can't get power fast enough. It'd be like an extra gallon of fuel that weighs 500 lbs

Sounds cool but do we really need solar panels? Ive seen some good fake ones and the small prop is good for simulation as its power output is not that great. As for light aircraft it would be good to have a structural piece that weighs less e.g. carbonfibre
