Problem with yaw on countra-rotating rotors on helicopters

2 goldenpeach  5.1 years ago

Hi!
So, I added a second helicopter rotor on the Gator 2 and removed the tail rotor.
Thought I made sure the two rotors turned into opposite directions to cancel the torque, I can't seem to have any yaw control on the craft.
The torque is correctly cancelled and the helicopter fly reasonably well, apart from the inability to control the yaw.

Which rotor setting do I have to change in order to control the helicopter's yaw?

Thank you in advance!

Hi, just had the same problem, check blade count, engine power, blade thickness and diameter and make sure they’re all the same, also double check to see if one has reverse rotation, somehow I missed that on my helicopter

    thanks everyone!
    The gyros solved the problem.

However, for some reasons, the helicopter seem to produce some torque even if the two contra-rotating rotors have the exact same settings.
Is there anything I'm doing wrong?
(Should I link the craft file?)

if you are talking about a kmax style then you can set the alt pitch as yaw and invert one rotor so one rotor will point forward and the other back

Use the tail and gyro to get the best performance on your helicopter
