theres an easier way, have a gun pointing at a invincible block in the opposite direction and have a gun pointing where you want to shoot and put all this on a spring, i have a link to how to do it and invincible blocks at the bottom of a forum post which is linked on my profile
Another way to make recoil is using shocks. A bullet that hits a block will create backwards force. If you weaken the shock or increase the bullet impact force, then there will be a higher recoil. It's a bit difficult to explain and this doesn't exactly answer your question so sorry about that :P
You need the Automaton mod.
