Up votes

1st.

it's obvious that up votes have everything to do with player popularity and not so much to do with plane building effort and quality.

2nd.

build airplanes that you enjoy and don't worry about what others think.. this system is in no way merit based.
(we are living in a "don't hurt any feelings world") ... that's sad.

3rd.

Players are allowed to many uploads a day, so many airplanes are uploaded that planes are not in front of the public eye for a minute or two before they drop back a page or two and are lost in the abyss.

4th.

The Simpleplanes team do a excellent job especially when you consider the range of players in the community.

in closing,

up votes have nothing to do with the merit of your work.. if it did you would also be able to down vote.. you can't, so It's more like saying "this high ranking builder uploaded something that didn't make me vomit "...

each player should also take the time to look through the uploaded planes of at LEAST the current day,
I try to give at least 5 up votes or comments every day to seemingly overlooked aircraft.. if we all did this everyone would get more of the up votes they deserve..

if you want up votes... give up votes

if you want comments... leave comments

...participate.

@jsaret because either A. It looks amazing or B. Because I looks like it took good effort. I follow only spiritus raptor and scriefers (top builders) and really try to avoid upvoting planes that come from gold users unless they are truly astonishing.

@PuhBuhGuh yes but why do you upvote stuff without flying it? Because the creator is high-ranked?

@jsaret Then I would never be able to upvote stuff. Every time I try to download anything from here, it takes about 10 minutes to say "download failed"

Have the ability to upvote the aircraft while in the game? I get the impression that it may be too much trouble to download the plane, fly it and then go back to the website and upvote it. Any thoughts on that?

I agree very much, you have to be active to get seen.

But it was a lot of new players that really overposted... None of the good builders post anywhere near that many planes a day. The best ones don't post for several days. @Homersdonut

for every download I think someone should get 1/2 of a up vote because im seeing a lot of planes with 1-3 up votes but around 100 down loads...

Also I agree on 5 or more planes, no less

@XVIIndustries the main reason for that was so that the planes of new players could be noticed.

You're the main reason for that rule anyway @Homersdonut

@JoeAdkinson13 I think the time you post a plane really does effect how many people see it. I always post my planes around 9-11:00 pm

Look, you sir don't understand, if you want to get rid of up votes, do you want the stars to come back, people winging and whining if you deduct a star, the downvote is a negatively spoken comment no downvote is needed, if you don't like it don't upvote, downvote said demoralise builders and make them quit! Not to demoralise you right now but, you aren't actually good. You're average, a good builder is a popular builder thus getting more up votes because more people are following them because they liked their builds, if you build something good and outstanding then you get seen followed and more points, you think people don't scour the pages to find good stuff? If you don't get upvotes what does that tell you, use your logical mind wherever it's gone and think before posting a whiny rate rant! And for once I thought the rate hates, rate hogs and rate whiners had buggered off

I wonder if the time of day you post a plane really effects our up votes and downloads, maybe more community active players at certain times.

I don't totally agree. For instance I just hit gold 2 days ago. But even before that almost every single one of my planes was either up voted or 5 stared in the past. I do believe planes get lost in the pages, but also it really depends if your good or not I think. I'm a Great builder and I just now hit gold it takes a while.

many people extend "challenges" offering upvotes as a prize ... this totally devalues the upvote system..( it's like if your country runs on currency that is not backed up by gold or resources.... I'm looking at you, America...) Only site moderators should extend SimplePlane challenges that award upvotes

@JoeAdkinson13 Yeah, I'm just happy to get 1 to 2 downloads on the planes that I upload
