How to backup your airplanes

Dev AndrewGarrison  8.7 years ago

If you ever want to backup your airplanes from your device just to make sure you have them all safe and sound, you've come to the right place.

iOS

  1. Download iExplorer
  2. Install iExplorer
  3. Run iExplorer and click Continue in Demo mode
  4. In the left side, right click Backup and click Refresh
  5. Then drill down into Backup -> Backup Explorer -> AppDomain->com.jundroo.SimplePlanes-> Documents
  6. Select all files
  7. Right click -> Export to Folder
  8. Create a new folder, export those files

Android

  1. Connect your device to your computer with USB
  2. Use Windows Explorer and go into this folder on your device:
    \Android\data\com.jundroo.SimplePlanes\files\AircraftDesigns
  3. Copy all files to your computer

PC

  1. Open Windows Explorer and go to this folder (replace UserName with your actual user name):
    C:\Users\UserName\AppData\LocalLow\Jundroo\SimplePlanes\AircraftDesigns

  2. Copy all files from that folder somwhere else on your PC.

Nevermind, infact you have to use your built in file manager in android. If you try to access the folder with a third party file explorer it will not let you access the folder. So just simply use the built in file manager.

Unfortunately as of Android 11 they have made the /data folder unaccessible for whatever reason. So now I have no clue on how to export and save the airplanes in another device

@TheChosenOne as far as I can tell there is no way. So you can backup but you can't restore. This of course means that backing up is useless.

Now that we know hot to back up please tell us how to restore. I would like to use this mechanism to migrate a bunch of planes my son build from our old family iPad to my son's new iPad.

@AndrewGarrison : Actually, I use the website for that, especially since you added the 'private' option. You might want to promote the local backup variant (maybe save to icloud / add to email-option) to save yourself the disk space server side.
