I found this topic quite confusing when I started but now I know, i am going to make an explanation here: The default type is semi-symmetric which has medium drag and lift. this will be enough for most aircraft. Symmetric has low lift and low drag. This is good for fast aircraft as there is less drag. Finally there is flat-bottom which has high drag and high lift. I used this for my glider because gliders are not meant for speed.
