Tu-4 Progress

5,987 Gavib  6.7 years ago

I have been working on my new tu-4 for a few hours. I am putting a lot of work into the cockpit as most tu-4's and b-29s on this site have a bad cockpit. I would like too see how it looks to everybody, and if anybody wants they can use it on their craft. https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/vnvlnO/Tupelov-TU-4-Canopy-Test
feel free to tell me if anything is wrong.

    @F104Deathtrap it's almost impossible, it's crazy

    @Gavib I was able to build a front section using 3 or 4 large overlapping cones, covered with a lattice like the one you posted. Externally it looks great, but there's a large circle in the front that blocks the view from inside, so no working cockpit is possible. VERY FRUSTRATING so far.

    @F104Deathtrap the nose is good, but I'm having a little trouble rounding it off at the end so it can be fitted to a fuselage

    @Gavib Hey, hows the progress going on that nose section? Someone asked me to do a mobile-friendly B-29 a while ago, but if yours turns out to be working cockpit and mobile friendly, I'll probably just tell him to check out yours. No reason for both of us to put weeks into the same plane, you know?

    No worries, the ribbing looks about perfect. I've been working on the same thing. The hard part is the fuselage that fits under it, imo. One could just stuff a few cone blocks to get a decent looking exterior, but after all that work, kinda want to make a working cockpit, and that's where things get sticky with the fuselage.
