How do you get your plane to turn so smooth

1,912 HeatedWafflez  7.6 years ago

Take a look at FlightSonics FS515 Aarus steampunk plane, that thing turns flush and clean, although when I make a plane I turn it, it stops briefly, then proceeds turning at a slower pace. How do I stop this.

@SHCow No, I just did that with my Sea Vixen and the results are fantastic, I can glide at 100mph for this tiny plane, plus I can turn much sharper without losing control. Thanks for the help, really appreciated :)

@SHCow That makes perfect sense, I'll definetly do that!

oh btw I'm currently working on a project with a VTOL thrust vectoring it actually works on the test piece but not in the plane @spefyjerbf

@HeatedWafflez @CALVIN232 Generally, more lift equals more maneuverability. However, more lift also can equal less speed, so it's a trade off.

Large enough wing area, but not enough to cause major drag, properly spaced scaled wings should do the trick

Try out my air arrow that has the current turning booster I was taking about @HeatedWafflez

What you are experiencing is an effect caused by a control surface being moved past its best lift-generating angle for a particular airspeed and angle of attack, causing the torque on the plane to drop off slightly after passing its peak. Maintaining a more hands-on control and avoiding moving the stick to the stops can help avoid this. Some planes happen to be perfectly engineered so that the stop is also the most efficient angle of the tailplane.

That depends on how much lift you want the
    Wings to make@spefyjerbf

@spefyjerbf So the more lift the better? That explains why my only creation that instantly responds to flap controls turns so fast.

Have more lift. Either make your body lighter, wings longer, or add wings. Also, have your primary wings set to "flat bottom" airfoils.

@CALVIN232 Er from past experience from using downloaded planes that doesn't really solve much.

Not sure what flightsonic did but what I sometimes do if needed is Add turning boosters they are tiny engines on tiny rotaters which operates on pitch or yaw or roll depending on what you need and where you have placed it
