Any app that's free is a 90 percent chance that it's gonna be malware! I am unsure how to get the modding tools, because the devs claim that it's the thing that they say, actually lying that it's a modding thing, really trying to get you to download a really bad virus...I can't do XML modding for simpleplanes because I am uncomfortable about downloading stuff that's free, so I don't without someone who is a master at identifying software

All you have to do is open the xml file with a text editor and edit.
If you claim the Devs are lieing and are trying to get you to download a virus, you don't need to be making and publishing mods.
The devs wouldn't tell you to download a virus, and if you want the UNITY modding tools, those are within your steam files
You trust the devs that the game is not virus... but you don't trust the same devs that the mod tools to make the game 'better' are not virus?
But yeah, you don't need the mod tools for XML...
