2620 marked a new age for space travel. The New Earth Movement has successfully converted their orbital platforms into humanity's first starships. Armed and possessing the power of space flight, the NEM ships were a lot harder to take down and gave the NEM the upper hand for a few years. The first station-turned-warship, the Omicron, made history by eliminating the Eastern Seaboard planetside bases in 2 hours with its full payload and managed to destroy a fourth of UWA's lunar bases before it was taken down by several squadrons of UWA's aerospace fighters. The United World Alliance were forced to secretly relocate their factories to Mars and started to reactivate the long-defunct mining facilities there and within the asteroid belt. On 2634 the first ship-to-ship battle took place on Jupiter's orbit between the NEM's Scarecrow frigate and UWA's Tigris battlecruiser. The UWA emerged victorious, but lost 96% of its crew to multiple hull breaches and radiation leaks. While both sides then had the knowledge to build proper starships, they yet had to unlock the secrets to FTL travel.

@JoddyFubuki788 what I meant by looking like space jets is that they look less like airplanes and more like starfighters (search Aegis Sabre, Aegis Vanguard or Anvil Gladiator you'll see what I mean)
@JoddyFubuki788 great movie :) well the CFA49Mk.X was built before this time. It's still being used in combat and is still capable of fighting next-gen aircraft
