A collision problem

17.6k ChunderDownUndeR  7.8 years ago

Gday fellas, i was building this helicopter during the week and decided i could build the first inter-meshing rotorcraft in the game.

h
Nowbefore you ask, yes i have changed the rotors from 3 each to 2 each
It can fly for about 30 seconds before one of the rotors brakes off and the thing plummets like a rock. My theory is one of the rotors either hits another or a in an unlikely case, a part of the body.

is there a way via xml or any method in which i can probably fix this issue.

these are my possible attempts
-xml scale the rotors to doulbe size and hope it does something
-i have xml scaled the rotors size to the minimum desired, that just briefly increased the time before they inevitably brake
-tried different angles of the rotors.

if you have a solution i would like to hear ir and as my fingers are freezing off now in the australian winter i would leave the typing to you
Cheers
-CDU

@ChunderDownUndeR Damn, I hoped to post the first, but I ran into the same problem. Yours looks so much better though!

@ChunderDownUndeR you could xml and disable collisions for both of the props allowing them to freely pass through each other and the body with out causing damage

you could try to modify the time of rotation to an extreme scale to get them spinning in perfect unison

Yes, there is an attribute disabled parts from colliding with other parts. I think you change it to "disableaircraftcollisions=true" but I don't have access to the XML so I'm not sure exactly what the attribute is call
